HAMSHAHRI, in a news story, wrote that the mother of Ali Khalili, a seminary student who was wounded by a number of assailants in Tehran on July 16, plans to file a lawsuit against the Health Ministry for showing the video film taken of his son at hospital on television without her permission. According to Hamshahri, in the clip broadcast on July 18, Health Minister Vahid-Dastjerdi claimed that two or three hospitals had refused to admit Mr. Khalili. However, in a recent interview with the Fars news agency, her mother said that 26 hospitals had refused to admit him. Khalili’s mother also said that when the health minister and the team accompanying her visited her son, she told them that they do not have the right to shoot a film of him, but they said that they will keep the film in the Health Ministry’s archive and want to use it to help resolve people’s problems. “Even the minister herself promised me that the film will not be broadcast,” she said. She also complained about the fact that her remarks were cut in the interview and that her son was admitted five hours after he was injured. Officials must acknowledge that the people are facing problems at hospitals, she emphasized.
TEHRAN-E EMROOZ, in a news report, says based on the official figures, a total number of 242,203 marriages and 127,200 divorces were registered in the first three months of the current calendar year (ended June 21). The report describes Tehran with 7,310 divorces as the province with the highest divorce rate in the country. Elsewhere in the report, it was mentioned that the marriage rate has decreased by 6.20% and the divorce rate has increased by 16.2% in the first three months of the current year, compared to the previous year.
Mehr news Agency, in a news report, quotes Majlis Speaker Ali Larijani as saying the way the subsidies are being distributed contravenes with what was ratified by the Majlis. He said that the Majlis knew well that if subsidies are distributed in this way, that will cause inflation. He also said the national TV should not serve as a mouthpiece of the administration.
In an interview with KHABARONLINE,
Majlis Energy Committee Chairman Hamid Reza Katouzian believes principlists will face “premature death” and will easily lose power if they do not allow a space for criticism. In an interview with KHABARONLINE, Katouzian also said according to the Majlis ratification the subsidy reform plan was going to be implemented in a course of five years, but the administration did it “overnight”. For example, he said the gasoline price suddenly jumped from 4000 to 7000 rials. Elsewhere in his interview the MP said, “When we criticized the administration (over something) they (other lawmakers) prohibited us from doing so, and even criticizing remarks were not broadcast by the TV.” He also said the fact that some lawmakers are now airing criticism against the president it is because the president has passed some redlines.
